Meet Steve

The bloke at the other end of the lead.

I'm Steve. I've grown up around dogs my whole life — labradors, spaniels, pointers, the lot. After thirty-odd years of city work, I've come back to what I'm best at: being outdoors, in good company, with dogs.

I walk each dog the way their owner asks. No rush, no fuss, no fashionable nonsense. If your dog needs to be on their own, they are. If they get on with a couple of others, brilliant. Either way, you'll hear from me, see where we went, and know your dog's been looked after by someone who genuinely cares.

The bits that worry people

The four things owners always ask about first.

Handing your dog to a stranger takes trust. Here's how Steve earns it.

"I don't like giving my keys to a stranger."

Fair enough — nor would I. Every key is kept on a numbered tag with no name or address attached, in a locked box. If you'd rather use a key safe near your door, I'll recommend one and help you fit it. You never lose control of who can get in.

"My dog is nervous / reactive / doesn't do well with strangers."

Most of Steve's solo walk clients are exactly that. No forced socialising, no group walks unless it's right for your dog, and a proper meet & greet at home first — so your dog meets Steve on their ground, on their terms, before anything else happens.

"Are you actually insured and checked?"

Yes, and I'll show you the certificates. £3m public liability plus care, custody & control cover through a specialist pet-business insurer, enhanced DBS check, and a current Pet First Aid certificate. Copies emailed on request — before you commit to anything.

"Will you actually turn up?"

That's the whole job. Same day, same time, same route — because dogs settle into routine and owners settle into trust. I don't take on more dogs than I can do justice to, and if something's ever wrong my end, you'll hear about it from me before the slot.

In owners' own words

Quiet trust. Built one walk at a time.

Murphy actually waits at the window for Steve now. He won't do that for me. I'd say that tells you everything.

Helen J. Murphy · Cocker Spaniel · Leamington
Our boy's reactive with other dogs and we'd written off ever finding a walker. Steve walks him alone, sends a photo, and that's that. Best money we spend.

Calm, dependable, on time. Never once cancelled. After three different walkers in two years, finally one we trust.
